Every basketball players dream is to play in the NBA. Wear those silky smooth jerseys, warmers and jogging pants. Wear those glamorous clothes going to the game. Ride the bus from the hotel to the arena on a game day. ride the plane from city to city on a road game. Drive those luxurious customized cars and a lot more.
I know it takes hard work and a lot of dedication to get there. Or maybe even because of the genes and geographical situation. Who knows why there isn’t a Filipino basketball player yet in the NBA. Maybe because we are relatively small and we can’t really blame anyone. I strongly believe that Filipinos are skilled and talented but the height factor is always a hindrance. I am not making an excuse here fir us Filipinos. This is what I just think. but on the other hand, good thing we have for example Eric Spoelstra, head coach of the Miami heat who has Filipino blood.
When kobe came here weeks ago I was happy to see him again. well im a laker fan but im not a fanatic. i really love them when Shaq was still there!!! i watched from the patron row C and it was a great view to see kobe together with some of my teammates playing together. i felt that the show wasn't enough. and it was too short. i thought he was gonna teach some of the players some moves like what he did to nico salva before! but anyway it was still a great show, props to the nike people, ms mae dichupa and sir tony atayde. by the way thank you to the Gutierrez family for tagging me along and making my kobe experience possible! :)
after a few weeks i heard rumors about some NBA players are gonna come here to play an exhibition game against the Gilas team. at first i didn't really believe it and said that was impossible to bring, such big names like that. then after a week or so they confirmed it. CP3 kobe and durant... was enough! but then Derrick Rose was a big big surprise! and i DIED at that very moment! i said that i have to watch it! and because the other players are not just normal players they are also start in the NBA,,, Tyreke , Mcgee, derrick williams, fisher and mr fear the beard! hahahaha! but for me seeing CP3 or kobe or Drose was enough! when i was about to buy upper a and even upper b was sold out already so i was kinda sad. but days before the game our tita/mommy in the team told us that we have tickets for the saturday game, PBA vs NBA all-stars. the whole team enjoyed it and i was shouting so loud every time CP3 holds the ball! im a CP3 fanatic because i like how he plays the swag! and how he looks for his teammates but also knows when to step up and score!
MVP did a great job together with coach Chot and the MVP foundation. there were rumors about how much they spent and people attacking them that they wasted so much money on it. but my take on it is that it also made a lot of filipinos happy. and to those attacking them, that's not their money that they used for that event, we are lucky enough to have someone like MVP to sponsor this kind of event for everyone of us to enjoy. big hand to mr. Pangilinan thank you for making us watch these players on the same court in a single game. cause you wouldn't even see Drose, Kobe and CP3 and Durant in one team even in the allstar game in the NBA. thank you again to the people who made this happen. it's a dream come true! :)
a short video from the kobe event.
the all star game video is not uploading ill try to upload it tomorrow! anyway i just rushed this one and didn't even read it after writing it. so if some of what i wrote doesn't make any sense forgive me im sleepy already! haha! goodnight! :)
What a great experience for you to see Kobe play. He said that the Philippines will always be special to him that's why he keeps coming back. .
